Alaa Buhusain is an investment professional with over 25 years banking and investment management experience in Bahrain, UAE and Saudi Arabia. He is the Head of Alternative Investments at Derayah Financial. Prior to Derayah, Alaa served as Head of International Investments at Dallah Albaraka Holding Company in Bahrain. Alaa also served as Board Member of New Restaurants of Spain, National Environment Preservation Co, and Palais Des Roses.Prior Dallah, Alaa served as Head of Direct Investment at Ajyad Capital in Bahrain and prior to that served within the Private Equity and Investment Banking Division of Itqan Capital, a Jeddah based Investment Firm regulated by the Capital Market Authority and a subsidiary of Al Baraka Banking Group. Prior to joining Itqan Capital, Alaa served as Acting Head of Investments for an associate company of Waha Capital, managing a private equity and real estate portfolio across the GCC, UK and the US. Alaa represented the firm on the boards of:First Education Holding BSC (c), BahrainAl Bashayer Investment Company, UAEMesk Holding BSC (c), BahrainThe Egyptian Child Care Corporation, CairoAlaa also served as Senior Vice President and Chief Representative Bahrain for Crosby Forsyth in Dubai providing investment solutions to corporate and financial institutions in the region. Alaa started his career at Gulf International Bank in Bahrain as a Credit Analyst, responsible for a Middle Eastern debt portfolio in excess of $1.1 billion.Alaa is a CFA charter holder since 2003 and a founding member of the Bahrain CFA Society. He is a member of the GCC Board Directors Institute since March 2024. Alaa holds a BA in Economics and Social Studies, specializing in Accounting and Finance from the University of Manchester, UK and a Masters in Business Administration specializing in Finance from Manchester Business School, UK.
