About Alabhya Sharma

I'm a Research Scholar in NCDMM MNIT Jaipur, specializing in the seismic safety of large-scale infrastructure, particularly concrete gravity dams. My work integrates AI/modern techniques and finite element analysis (FEA) to create more robust and reliable safety assessments. My master's research used ABAQUS for the seismic analysis of the Koyna Dam, revealing the dam's neck as a high-stress zone susceptible to cracking. This work underscored the importance of analyzing dam-foundation interaction with a flexible base. In my published research, I've applied multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) tools like the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) to prioritize factors influencing dam failure and used a Cloud Model to handle the uncertainty in expert opinions. This method, when applied to the Koyna Dam, showed that its seismic safety is below the "normal" range. The visual display of the cloud models helps interpret the safety condition of the dam. I also have expertise in Multichannel Analysis of Surface Waves (MASW), a geophysical method for assessing ground stiffness and shear-wave velocity, which is crucial for evaluating site conditions. My skills in structural dynamics, earthquake engineering, and computational analysis enable me to contribute to innovative projects aimed at improving the safety and resilience of critical infrastructure.
