About Alaina Mallette

With over ten years of experience in land use and strategic planning, I have developed practical skills in spatial analysis, development review, and project management for communities. My passion is to communicate complex concepts in clear and creative ways using GIS, public participation, and other land use planning tools. I have applied this passion in various settings, such as teaching GIS courses at a university in Ukraine as a Fulbright Scholar, creating zoning laws and maps for municipalities as a professional planner with the New York State Tug Hill Commission and the Town of Southern Pines, and leading environmental decision making workshops as a Peace Corps volunteer in Mexico. I am fluent in Spanish, and I hold a Master of Science in Environmental Science and a Certificate of Advanced Study in Environmental Public Participation and Conflict Management. My ultimate career goal is to become an attorney, and I am actively pursuing learning and training opportunities to achieve this goal.
