About Alaina Stocker
I have been a Seattle artist for 13 years now. I went to Cornish College of the Arts, where I received an intensely-focused arts education in painting, sculpture, drawing, and art history, graduating with my BFA in 2015. In the work force I gravitated towards positions working closely with small business owners and practicing artists, enjoying positions where I was free to learn and tackle whatever needed to happen next outside the bounds of job description. I developed skills in branding, content creation, marketing, and online store development (among others), enjoying having my hand in each aspect of building and maintaining a successful business. Half a decade of projects later and entrenched in the vibrant Seattle community and arts scene, I was all too familiar with the financial impossibilities artists face, and I began to form the ideas behind starting my own organization to support local visual artists. Living Artists Collective was born in 2020, and is growing as a new 501(c)3 nonprofit charity dedicated to making it easier for low-income visual artists to remain in increasingly expensive cities like Seattle.
