About Alan Cordio

I am a Civil Engineer from Brazil, graduated from Mackenzie University in 2022, with a focus on BIM, innovation, and efficiency in project design. I learned English as my second language from a young age, achieving nearly native proficiency in both speaking and comprehension. I am also currently learning Spanish to further expand my communication skills. Since the beginning of my career in the AEC industry, I have recognized BIM as the most intelligent and strategic methodology to overcome common project design bottlenecks, which motivated me to specialize in this area Currently, I serve as the BIM Coordinator at "RM Mais", a structural engineering design firm specialized in reinforced concrete structures. My team does not handle the projects; instead we are responsible for creating, maintaining and troubleshooting all BIM resources of the company, so the internal production teams can use them in the project development. These resources include Revit families, Templates, Dynamo scripts, pyRevit scripts, Notion documentation, files like shared parameter files, Pset files of individual clients, and more! I also participate in commercial meetings with prospects and technical discussions with clients to address BIM-related issues. My primary goal is to optimize engineers' workflows by centralizing the demand for fixes, maintenance and creation of tools and any resource that help achieve this objective. Throughout my career, I have gained experience in projects coordination and compatibility check (as an external consultant for construction firms), structural reinforcement modeling and detailing in Revit, BIM based subway station projects development, Python and Dynamo automation, Revit family and template creation, IFC export and parameter mapping for clients to use in planning and budgeting. Additionally, I have led internal BIM training sessions and spoken at industry events on behalf of my current employer ate the time.
