About Alan Estevez
Alan Estevez, a recognized leader in the aerospace and defense acquisition and logistics communities, was confirmed by the Senate in March 2022 as the Under Secretary of Commerce (Industry & Security). In this role, He leads the US government efforts to protect US and allied technology from being acquired and used against the national security and foreign policy of the United States. Alan joined Deloitte as a national security strategy and logistics executive in June 2017 after a 36-year career with the Department of Defense. Alan led acquisition, contracting, and logistics support for multiple complex operations and today works with a range of clients to help innovate and transform their own capabilities. Alan was confirmed by the Senate as the DoD’s Principal Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology, & Logistics (USD (AT & L)) from October 2013 through January 2017. He oversaw more than people, a $20 billion budget, and an annual equipment and services contract spend of $300 billion. Alan led the USD (AT & L)’s support to operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. He served as the DoD’s representative to the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) between 2012 and 2016. Alan was confirmed by the Senate as the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Logistics and Materiel Readiness from August 2011 until October 2013. As the first career federal official ever to hold the position, he provided world-class military logistics support to the men and women of the United States Armed Forces and managed a budget of over $170 billion in logistics operations. He has been repeatedly honored throughout his career, earning, among numerous other plaudits, three Department of Defense Distinguished Public Service Medals, two Presidential Rank Awards (Meritorious and Distinguished Executive), and the National Security Service to America Medal. Alan was presented with the National Defense Industrial Association Logistician Emeritus Award and the National Defense Transportation Association Distinguished Government Service Award. Alan holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Rutgers University and a Master of Science in national resource strategy from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces.
