About Alan Kronenberg

I am an early career journalist who is interested in reporting on a variety of topics, including the climate crisis, sustainability and general news. As a Summa cum laude graduate of Case Western Reserve University (CWRU), I studied human communication in my Cognitive Science major and Psychology minor, and the history of science in my History minor. I also explored my interest in writing by taking my theoretical understanding of human communication and figuring out how to apply it practically through journalism. This pursuit led me to become a Staff Writer at CWRU's student-run newspaper, The Observer, and then towards bigger things as a graduate student at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. At Columbia, some of the things I did included writing off-the-news features in my neighborhood beat of Greenpoint, Brooklyn, learning photojournalism and investigative techniques and covering topical events like the opening weekend of Bryant Park's Winter Village and the 60th anniversary of the 1964 New York World's Fair.
