From one of my bandleaders and colleagues :Andy Stobie Alan Mandel has changed the face of jazz in the Finger Lakes area since his move to upstate NY. He has been a featured artist with several upstate jazz bands, most noteably the lead tenor sax for the Greater Finger Lakes Jazz Orchestra since 2006. His knowledge of jazz theory and his impecable ear for turning out a chord change or paraphrasing a jazz standard riff within a solo has made him a highly respected soloist. His diverse abillity on literally all members of the woodwind family has been spotlighted in numerous school and community theater pit orchestras. His music students stretch from those of elementary age through college as an adjunct at Hobart and Wiliam Smith Colleges in Geneva, NY. I highly recommend him for any engagement for which you need a talented hire - except, of course, for the nights I already have him booked!
