I am not very good at being retired, after over 50 years working with the agricultural industry and local authorities (amongst many others) including as an HSE Principal Inspector, a past Chair of the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH) Rural Industries Group and a Board member of the Farm Safety Partnership (FSP) England. I still offer H&S consultancy/advice and training for local authorities (via APSE)+ farming and other land-based businesses and organisations. I am active at Branch level for IOSH Chiltern and the Institution of Agricultural Engineers (IAgrE). I am also Secretary to the Douglas Bomford Trust, funding students and research in agricultural engineering, write articles and organise events. Oh, and in between, I manage to fit in some time to play drums and bowls!
