About Alan Prater

In developing my ‘Why’, I have discovered that I am “Laying the foundation, so that others are inspired to build.” As a young boy growing up in rural, lower middle class, North Little Rock, AR, my father instilled three strong character traits at a very young age: a strong work ethic, taking pride in the most menial task (doing everything to best of your ability), and perseverance to push through any tough situation. At age 5, my family and I moved into a house that sat on two acres, which was full of rocks and boulders, and made our backyard look like a junkyard. My father’s dream was to have a shop where he and my uncle could work and sell automobiles and lawnmowers for a little extra money. It was too expensive for us to purchase the concrete and fill-dirt that it would take to complete the shop foundation, so every day after school and on weekends, I spent working to make that shop happen. When I wasn’t playing baseball, I was in the backyard picking up and moving rocks into that foundation of what would become a 50’x100’ shop. Ten years later at age 15, I saw my father’s dream come true.In retrospect, that foundation was filled through perseverance, pride and a work ethic to never quit. I continued to use those same qualities in the US Navy to innovate, develop and implement training curriculums that would lay the foundation for teams to be successful within organizations.As US Navy senior leader with demonstrated experience mentoring special operations personnel, I excel in managing and setting priorities, identifying strengths and engaging with team members to provide quality results in a diverse workforce. I have proven talent in the development and implementation of training programs and courses, which have resulted in increased enhancement of performance for multiple global organizations. I am also a future-oriented strategist effective and efficient at creating solutions to complex challenges by identifying alternative opportunities and possibilities.As I transition from my military service to a civilian career, I would welcome the opportunity to connect with you on LinkedIn.
