About Alan Sewell

After graduating with an MFA in Acting from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University in 1985, I headed to New York to pursue my future. A year later, on opening night of an Off-Off B’way play I ruptured my Achilles tendon playing basketball. My life made a brief “left turn” of… 28 years, during which I had two separate careers; small-business Entrepreneur and later as a software sales representative and manager—before returning to the career I detoured from those many years ago. I’m thrilled to be back in the theater and acting. While I love working in different periods and styles I have a real commitment to the classics, Shakespeare in particular. It’s a constant learning process that’s both challenging and fun. Beyond that, I play no favorites. I’m hoping I get to do more comedy in the future. There are also a couple of roles that I’m dying to play: the Stage Manager in “Our Town,” Henry Drummond in “Inherit the Wind,” Daniel Berrigan in “Trial of the Catonsville Nine,” Willy Loman in “Death of a Salesman, and Scrooge in “A Christmas Carol.” Oh, there are a couple more, but that’s a heck of a start! Helen Keller said, “Life is either a great adventure or nothing.” Hard to argue with that!
