About Alan Tomasi

With close to 40 years of Architectural experience, Alan has had a variety of work focused on Industrial, Office Buildings, Multi-Family and Retail. In 2005 Alan co-founded TSArchitects, which was in business for 18 years. Their first project was on a 100-acre site in Huntsville Alabama. When they started this project they did it all in Revit with no prior Revit experience. Alan’s focus includes combining the artistic and technical sides of architecture. His technical focus includes writing agreements, overseeing the development of the Construction Documents and Construction Administration. He is used to coordinating large teams including interacting with contractors and performing construction observations to make sure that the building is being constructed per the design intent. His intuitive mind enables him to understand the client’s needs allowing him to easily work together on projects and meet design goals. Alan has good problem-solving skills and uses his abstract thinking to link thoughts together in order to communicate these ideas in the simplest of terms. Aside from being an architect, Alan enjoys the great outdoors and he is an avid skier & backpacker, having done the 211 mile John Muir Trail down the spine of the Sierras twice, the first time at the age of 15. Alan loves hanging out with his family and especially his grandchildren. Alan also likes gardening and remodeling his homes, self-performing most of the tasks. Alan feels that this hands-on ability makes his understanding of the construction process more pertinent to his professional abilities. Coming from an architectural family, Alan grew up traveling in Mexico & Europe, with these vacations always having an art and architectural focus. His parents once took them out of school for 4 months and they drove down to Costa Rica in the 70’s to visit their uncle. Alan enjoys being creative and took an extra year in Junior college to pursue the arts. Alan studied abroad in southern Switzerland for a semester and afterwards solo-traveled around Italy, Greece, western Turkey and Tunisia studying the Greek & Roman empires for several months. Alan brings these unique experiences together, which enables him to work on a variety of building types with positive results. Alan isn’t risk adverse, rather approaches life with a calculated risk attitude. Throughout Alan’s career he has been handed one-off type projects (such as aircraft hangars, ice-skating rinks and natatoriums) as well as inheriting problem projects to fix. This can-do nature is a core principal to Alan’s life.
