About Alan Wu

I began my career working as a software developer in the Auckland Bioengineering Institute (ABI) of University of Auckland since the beginning of 2007 after graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering.I am a result oriented developer aiming to deliver result in a timely but maintainable and future-proof manner. I am keen to deliver the best possible solution for the given time and resources. I am also keen to learn about the latest solution to a problem and continuously improve / optimise my works.My earlier work experience includes- Develop open-source cross-platform scientific simulations and 3D visulisations C/C++ desktop application using OpenGL (CMGUI)- Modularise the engine of the fore-mentioned software into its own reusable library and python wrapping using SWIG- Create and customise testing framework with Buildbot- Create user and developer documentations with Doxygen- Collaborate with other developers using various version control systems - CVS, Subversion and Git (Github)Since 2017, the team in ABI has been working with National Institute of Health in the U.S government on the SPARC Program to provide a scientific and technological foundation for future bioelectronic medicine devices and protocols.My role as the lead developer of the web-based solution of the SPARC Program includes- Lead a small development team in Auckland to plan, develop and deploy both backend and frontend solutions, the SPARC Portal can be found here - https://sparc.science/- Collaborate with overseas colleagues through Slack, Zoom and Github- Communicate with stakeholders to deliver new features and bug fixes using Wrike- Collaborate with UI/UX experts to deliver a cohesive UX on the front end- Work closely with colleagues in Auckland to address and resolve immediate or foreseeable issues- Maintain services on AWS for various testing and prototypes delivery- Build and maintain daily testing with Jenkins- Create E2E and component testing for Vue.JS components using Cypress.IO- Research and update various software tools to assist developments- Guide and work with other developers to understand problems and ultimately lead to the optimal solutions
