About Alayna Hess

I am an editorial assistant and creative writer who loves to help others communicate their story well and hopes to use creative writing to encourage deep thinking and empathy. Through classes on various forms of professional and creative writing, as well as job experiences involving frequent direct employee-client contact, I have learned the importance of communication that is both clear and welcoming. My work as a writing/grammar tutor and teacher's assistant revealed my love for helping others in one-on-one situations so that they can build confidence in their own writing and critical thinking skills. Additionally, being an editor and head editor of my college's undergraduate literary journal gave me practical experience in the editing and proofreading process. Creativity has always been a part of my life, and ultimately, I've learned just how multifaceted it can be: from making up stories and designing social media posts to creatively thinking about everyday problems. I have also had poems and short fiction pieces published in my college's undergrad literary magazine. I hope to continue using my creativity and communication skills to foster inventiveness and empathy in the workplace.
