I’ve been in the mining industry for over 33 years. 15 years underground starting with the mine department and remaining 5 years up to the development level, followed by 10 years in maintenance as leader, supervisor, millwright, and machinist. During this time I remained the JHSC employee representitive. I then transferred to the mill where I worked with the maintenance team, planning team and now as the mill maintenance general foreman. I am still part of the JHSC and truly believe that recognizing deficiencies, creating SOP’s and training will not only improve productivity for our stakeholders, but will also increase the overall performance and safety every employee. Safety is not by accident and success is not realized without teamwork.
