About Alberto Zingaro
Senior scientist with experience in scientific computing and multiphysics simulations, specialized in the computational modeling of the heart. Currently leading the Alya development team at ELEM Biotech, a spin-off company from the Barcelona Supercomputing Center. I pursued a PhD in Mathematical Models and Methods in Engineering (2022) at the MOX Laboratory, Politecnico di Milano, under the supervision of Prof. Alfio Quarteroni, where I developed multiphysics and multiscale models for cardiac hemodynamics as part of the iHEART project. The postdoctoral work at the same lab deepened my expertise in cardiac electromechanics and myocardial perfusion, complemented by a research stay at Johns Hopkins University in Natalia Trayanova's lab, where I focused on computational models predicting stroke by simulating atrial hemodynamics. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering (2015) and a Master’s in Aeronautical Engineering (2018) from Politecnico di Milano, as well as an MSc in Computational Fluid Dynamics from Cranfield University (2017).
