About Alea Broom

I am a Quality Control Laboratory Technician with experience in the biomaterials, chemical and petro-chemical industries. I’ve worked with and analyzed various different materials including sugars, xylose, crude oil, gasoline, diesel, jet fuel and benzene, in addition to other petroleum and chemical products. Currently, I’m a part of a very talented team that’s commissioning the startup of a brand new Biomaterials plant! I’m very excited to participate in the process of a startup of this magnitude. I’m learning a great deal about method development, waste management, and environmental health and safety practices. Before joining this project, I worked as a Laboratory Technician for Saybolt, LP. This positon in the petro-chemical industry was significant to my development as a laboratory professional. This job was extremely quality focused. I was present and participated in major audits. I also managed accounts and served a liaison between clients and the laboratory. I am truly enjoying my professional path. At some point, I’d like to further my education by pursuing a Masters in Environmental Health and Safety. In my spare time, I love to travel. Travel is one of the greatest educators. There’s nothing like experiencing a new location and culture! One of my goals for the near future is to participate in a volunteer trip abroad. I also enjoy hiking, working out, stand up paddle boarding, and baking. I’m always interested in hearing from former colleagues, managers, classmates, or just interesting, innovative, and creative people!
