About Aleana Winter

I am a third-year undergraduate student at the University of California, Irvine studying Biomedical Engineering. Growing up in an immigrant family of engineers inspired me to analytically navigate the world and ultimately make a positive impact in the medical device design industry. I am passionate about computer-aided design (CAD) and aspire to apply my skills to design and innovate medical devices to further develop the healthcare industry. Problem-solving and design has always fascinated me. From a young age, I have been curious about how things work and how I can improve what already exists. Currently, I am researching in the Browne Lab at the Center for Translational Vision Research at UC Irvine, where I have fostered my skills even further – applying these skills to practical bioengineering applications has demonstrated to me that I can be a part of a larger cause, where I can design and develop bioengineering equipment. When I am not occupied with my studies or exploring the newest innovations in medical devices, you will find me at the gym, reading self-improvement books, or at a local coffee shop. I am a firm believer in regularly developing new skills through different experiences to become the best version of myself. I am always looking for opportunities to learn and develop my engineering skills.
