About Alec Barclay

I recently graduated from Edith Cowan University with a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Cybersecurity. This was undertaken on a full-time basis at the Joondalup campus. I pursued this degree given my problem-solving abilities and wish to develop a career in technology and IT. After graduating, I gained a position in the highly competitive Department of Health Graduate program, specializing in the ICT stream. The program offered me the chance to rotate across three teams over a 12-month period. Since completing the graduate program in January 2024, I have been employed as a Project Officer within the Strategic Workforce and Development Directorate at the Department of Health (HSP). In my current role, I am actively engaged in two critical projects—the Nurse Midwife to patient ratio project and the Mental Health Workforce project. As part of these projects, I am leveraging and refining my skills in tools such as Excel and Power BI to deliver high-quality data to the respective teams Managers. I am interested many areas of cybersecurity including but not limited to, pentesting, incident response and security architecture.
