The educator must, above all other things, be an excellent communicator. Students can not be expected to learn or enjoy learning if they do not understand the lesson or are bored. Supporting the education of students must then be accommodating to as many as possible with special care taken to make sure that vulnerable students are given attention and also tools to make them as successful as their peers. What I aspire to be, as an educator, is an effective communicator but also an even more effective observer and listener. I make an effort to be available to listen to all students regardless of their intersectional identity. I also strive to learn and remember as many names as possible to give my students the respect and attention they deserve. These actions are the foundation with which positive relationships can be built and maintained over the course of a student's educational journey.
