About Alec Marentic

As a dedicated and passionate school psychologist, I bring a well-rounded background in delivering psychological services within the Hawaiʻi Department of Education. Since 2021, I have served the Kaʻū, Keaʻau, Pāhoa Complex Area, providing psychological services to students, supporting staff, and collaborating with families to create positive, supportive learning environments. My journey with the Hawaiʻi DOE began in 2020 as a school psychology intern, where I gained invaluable experience working across a variety of settings. In addition to my work in the field, I have served in leadership roles that allow me to advocate for the profession and support my colleagues on a larger scale. As the past president of the Hawaiʻi Association of School Psychologists, I coordinated a successful statewide conference, collaborated with stakeholders, and worked to advance initiatives that strengthen the field. I also represent Hawaiʻi as the NASP Delegate and contribute to the NASP Advanced Skills Institute Planning Committee, working to enhance the professional development of school psychologists nationwide. Currently, I chair my complex area's committee on crisis response. In this role, I am spearheading efforts to adapt and implement crisis response protocols that are aligned with best practices. My goal is to ensure that schools in our area are prepared to respond effectively to crises, ensuring student safety and staff readiness in challenging situations. I am deeply committed to supporting students' mental health and academic success, and I continue to seek opportunities for professional growth and collaboration in advancing the field of school psychology.
