About Alec Matulka

As an English Writing & Rhetoric Major with a double minor in Great Books and Digital Humanities at Pepperdine University, I had a unique, interdisciplinary educational experience. I walked the line between the humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences, gaining insight from their intersections. I took a wide array of classes, from creative writing to computer science, that have helped me understand how writing, reading, and other humanistic pursuits are adapting to the modern, technologically-driven world. Outside of my education, I've sought out and made the most of similarly interdisciplinary opportunities. Newsrooms, election offices, movie theaters, software companies—I've been able to refine my writing, editing, presentation, and leadership abilities in a number of fast-paced professional environments, and I've seen first-hand how thoughtful, compassionate communication is truly the bedrock of a variety of industries.
