Background
About Aleena Das
I am skilled in multi-disciplinary research. In my current role as Principal Scientist, I facilitate insulin and insulin analogs research using LC-MS/MS, MALDI & HOS techniques based impurity profiling, conducting analytical similarity assessments of insulin analogs, side-by-side analysis of proposed insulin biosimilar drug substance and drug product, freeze–thaw characterization of DP, new instrument installation(IQ, OQ, PQ), training, calibration, performing CC using TrackWise-QMS system, interdisciplinary data review support for FDA audit readiness. With a background in various fields like biology, chemistry, bioinformatics and biotechnology, in my previous role as Lead-Analytical Facility, I have extensive work experience in analytical research involving sample preparation for mass spectrometry based proteomics and metabolomics and analysis using a range of analytical techniques like LC-MS/MS, GC-MS/MS, FTIR, UV-Vis spectrophotometer, etc. & softwares. The role also included maintenance and management of analytical facilities, conducting workshops and trainings. As research fellow at the Malaria Group in JNU and ICGEB, New Delhi, I have worked on development of PfRH5 & CyRPA as malaria vaccine candidates by characterizing the multi protein complex that is essential for P. falciparum merozoite invasion. At ICGEB, I have worked on a project to identify volatile organic compounds produced during Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection using GC/MS, with the aim of developing an early detection method for TB. As a Visiting Research Scientist in Seoul, Korea, my project involved phylogenetic analysis of aquatic organisms and the findings were presented in a conference at Thailand. I have worked on a project to identify the fate of memory CD4+ T cells during acute and chronic malaria infection using mouse models. I have completed various training programs on software & systems, pharmacovigilance quality management and various Acts & Codes and possess strong documentation, calibration, and instrument support skills, excellent problem-solving, leadership, communication skills, & am adept at working in teams. Overall, I have a strong background in analytical research with technical and scientific expertise in mass spectrometry, metabolomics, proteomics, bioinformatics tools for molecular modeling and drug designing, recombinant protein expression, cell culture, and immunology techniques. I had a glorious moment being awarded gold medal by former Honourable President of India Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam for standing first in the undergraduate examination of 2007.
