About Aleena Maher

Aleena has over 20 years of experience at global media companies where she has led high level negotiations and structured complex deals for television and digital media, across a wide range of areas, including original productions, program acquisitions, marketing, sponsorships, licensing and domestic and international distribution. She is currently Senior Vice President, Business & Legal Affairs at Viacom Media Networks, where she has worked for the past 14 years, initially serving as the East Coast legal head of the former SPIKE network where she spearheaded the negotiation of complex content deals and provided strategic advice to senior executives in the programming, sports, business development, marketing and branded entertainment groups. Over the past 10 years, Aleena’s role expanded into working across Viacom Media Networks’ Music and Entertainment brands, leading deals with third-party international distributors and domestic licensees for the sale of original content to linear, VOD and other digital platforms, including OTT providers. With an entrepreneurial mindset, financial acumen and a deep understanding of the content business, Aleena has introduced creative solutions to expand content libraries, while streamlining processes resulting in significant cost savings. She has successfully advised her client groups on how to avoid the pitfalls in cost estimating in order to maximize revenue in content sales. In addition, she has devised several organic growth opportunities which have resulted in additional revenue streams.
