He is a Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) well known throughout Texas for his expertise in this area. Al was named a Diplomate, Water Resources Engineers (D.WRE), a recognition bestowed by a subsidiary of the American society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) for professional ethics and a commitment to life-long learning and continuing professional development. Al has been involved with such projects as the Tropical Allison Recovery Project (TSARP) in Harris County; City of Galveston Master Drainage Plan, City of Baytown Master Drainage Plan and NPDES Program; Harris County NPDES Program; 37-Mile Hidalgo County Drainage District No. 1 (HCDD1)/U.S. International Boundary and Water Commission (USIBWC) Rio Grande River Levee Improvement Project in Hidalgo County; and the Clear Creek Flood Control Project for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) spanning Galveston, Harris and Brazoria Counties. More recently Al worked on the drainage modeling and design for segment F-1 of the Grand Parkway. Al joined Dannenbaum in 1982, and currently is DEC H&H Senior Technical Advisor. Previously Al was Chief Hydrologist and served as Principal of DEC Hydrology & Hydraulics Division.
