About Alejandro Ortiz

I have a Masters of Science in Economics from Universidad de Los Andes. I'm Fluent in English and Spanish with upper intermediate French. I focused my skills in the analysis and management of data. My interests are in developing evidence-based policies through economic analysis and data-driven insights. I have experience with education economics and with big data analysis as a research assistant, as well as meta-analysis, forecasting, and data modelling as an intern at Banco de la República, Colombia's Central Bank. 🥇 I was part of a small group of people that developed a nation-wide system for tracking and predicting drop-out rates for schools and students in Colombia. I achieved significant performance increases (6x) in estimation times, and have worked in studding the long term effects of conditional cash transfers (CCTs) 🪁 I like playing tennis, scuba diving and learning. I'm always looking forward to learning and to applying what I learn to make the world a better place.
