About Aleka MacLellan

Dr. Aleka MacLellan provides leadership advisory services to boards, executives, investors, and multi-generational families. Professionally certified in both executive and team coaching, she specializes in identifying and developing extraordinary boards, executives, teams, and organizational cultures. Aleka has over a decade of consulting experience, having worked independently as well as for boutique (ghSMART, Kilberry) to large sized (Russell Reynolds, LHH Knightsbridge) firms. She leverages a combination of psychological insight and business acumen to deliver unique value to clients in a diverse range of sectors across the globe. In addition to consulting, Aleka has worked as an in-house subject matter expert for a conglomerate, small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as a startup. As a corporate leader, Aleka developed the Leadership Team and Culture strategy for one of North America’s largest family-owned companies (J.D. Irving). She has also served in senior non-profit leadership roles, including as the National Chair for Canada’s largest post-secondary fundraiser (Shinerama). From a governance perspective, she currently sits on a non-profit board (Cystic Fibrosis Canada) and is an executive member of a national committee (Canadian Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology). Aleka received her Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Saint Mary’s University, and a B.A. Honours in Psychology from Mount Allison University. Her research talks on the topic of leadership have received international widespread recognition at various conferences with seven Best Presentation awards. Since joining the workforce full-time, she remains a lifelong learner, having completed Royal Roads University’s Executive Coaching graduate diploma program and the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management Directors Education Program.
