About Aleksandra Zivanovic

As Vice President, Legal (SGI CANADA), I bring over 20 years of progressive leadership in the insurance industry, combining deep legal expertise with strategic operational oversight. My background spans complex insurance claims and litigation, privacy, data-driven decision making, regulatory experience, compliance and governance frameworks. In my current role, I lead SGI Canada’s national litigation strategy, overseeing high-performing legal teams that deliver end-to-end services aligned with our core values of integrity, caring, innovation, and passion. I drive strategic planning initiatives that enhance legal service delivery, mitigate risk, and support enterprise-wide objectives. I am also the founder and chair of the CDL Women’s Caucus—the first national committee dedicated to advancing women in civil litigation. My commitment to equity and leadership in the legal profession was recognized with the Lexpert Award for Women in Law in 2017 and most recently in 2025 with the Canadian Defence Lawyers', Phillipa G. Samworth Award for Advancement of Women in the Legal Profession. I also have the privilege of being a DRI Board of Director, Canada, serving a 3 year term from 2024-2026.
