About Alessandra Trianni

As a dedicated public health professional, my career has been marked by impactful roles at leading global health organizations. At PAHO, I coordinated the High-Level Commission on Mental Health and COVID-19, contributing to the dissemination of its report published in June 2023. I also contributed to the development of the PAHO's Strategy for Improving Mental Health and Suicide Prevention and conceptualized the Suicide Prevention Initiative for the Americas. I additionally published scientific findings in The Lancet journal, collaborating with Harvard on the impact of COVID-19 on suicide and self-harm in the Americas. Previously, at Unitaid, I managed grants focused on malaria, HIV prevention, and MDR-TB, and ensured ethical review processes of research protocols. My experience at the WHO also included managing data on service coverage for severe mental disorders and supporting the Ebola response team. At UNHCR, I coordinated HIV, reproductive health, mental health, and health information policies, supporting strategic planning at both regional and global levels. Currently, I am working as a mental health specialist at PAHO/WHO, while pursuing certification as a clinical psychologist to integrate my public health management skills with clinical expertise.
