Alessandro è Professore Ordinario di Macchine a Fluido (ING-IND08) già Ordinario di Sistemi per l’Energia e l’Ambiente (ING-IND09) dal settembre 2019. E' Dottore di ricerca in Energetica nel 1996. Docente per gli insegnamenti di Sistemi per l’Energia e l’Ambiente, e Sistemi Energetici da Fonti Convenzionali Rinnovabili, e Macchine a Fluido. Alessandro è stato autore di seminari su invito presso: ENEA, Fluent Inc, GE Aero-engines, Flakt Woods Ltd (UK) e Flakt Woods AB (Svezia), Faggiolati Pumps Spa. Dal 2004, è Ricercatore visitatore presso il Team for Advanced Flow Simulation and Modeling (TAFSM), Rice University, Houston, TX-USA. Membro ASME, del Turbomachinery Committee IGTI, e del Centro di Ricerca Aerospaziale di Sapienza CRAS. Dal marzo 2012 è Presidente dell’ATI Sezione Lazio. Da maggio 2012 è co-founder e Presidente di SED Soluzioni per l’Energia e la Diagnostica Srl Spin-off di Sapienza. Alessandro is Full Professor of Fluid Machinery in Energy Conversion Systems. He received his PhD from the Sapienza University of Rome in 1996, and is lecturing Thermal Machines and Energy Systems at the Department of Mechanical and Aeronaspace Engineering. He has been involved since 1993 in the development of FEM based RANS solver for the prediction of turbulent internal flows, with emphasis on the development of stabilized formulation for turbomachinery CFD. Alessandro actively collaborates with TAFSM at Rice University, USA. Alessandro is active in the field of industrial turbomachinery and energy systems working on CFD-based design concepts, noise reduction technologies, control and fault monitoring. Alessanro serves on the Editorial Boards of the Int. Journal of Rotating Machinery and Periodica Polytechnica. He has published over 100 papers, including 35 journal papers, and has 4 patents. Alessandro is co-Founder and President of the spin-off company SED Soluzioni per Energia e Diagnostica Srl developing biomimetic fault detection and diagnosis technologies.
