About Alessandro Ercolini

Experienced Navigation Officer holding an Italian Master License Unlimited STCW II/2 + Bermuda and UK endorsements. I completed the nautical college in Livorno in 2009 and one month after I started my career at sea as Deck Cadet, working for the company Corsica & Sardinia Ferries. I moved on the bulk carrier of the company D'Amico Shipping, where I completed my cadetship and performed my first contract as OOW. Thereafter I progressed into different sector and obtained the qualifications for the LPG tankers. I started to work for the company Carboflotta, where I progressed until the position of 2nd Officer. After obtaining the Chief Mate License Unlimited I moved to Princess Cruises / P&O Australia, where I have been for the last 6 years. I started in 2014 as 3rd Officer and I moved up through the ranks to the position of Senior 2nd Officer. I have been senior officer of the watch on large cruise ships since February 2016. Throughout my career I have sailed in all parts of the world, performing navigation in any possible condition of weather and traffic. I grew up with a strong safety culture and I’m knowledgeable of all the international regulations such as ISM, ISPS, Lifesaving and Firefighting requirements within SOLAS and dedicated codes. I have gained knowledge of shiphandling while working on the cruise ships. I am very familiar with BRM procedures and capable of working individually and in a team. Customer service has become an important part of my job on board the cruise ships.
