About Alessandro Masala

I was born in Alghero (D.O.B. 1st September and I grew up in Uri (SS, Sardinia, Italy). I began studying Computer Engineering in University of Sassari in 2018 and I completed my Bachelor's degree in 2021. I decided to enroll in the Master's degree of Data Science and Engineering at Politecnico di Torino in 2022 and I completed my Master's degree in 2024. Now I am currently a Cloud Data Scientist at Avanade and I am currently enrolled in Economics in University of Sassari. I studied in a Scientific Lyceum (Liceo scientifico G.Spano) in Sassari. During those five years I boosted my knowledge in Math and Physic as well as in other subjects such as Latin, History, Chemistry and so on. Although IT was not one of my school subjects, I was really fascinated by this field. Therefore I decided to start my Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering. ‍‍ During those years, I got into Computer Engineering. I learned how to program in different programming languages (such as C, Java, C++.) and most importantly I developed a lot of skills related to problem solving. My thesis was a Machine Learning problem. The aim of the project was to correctly classify ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) using fMRI (functional Magnetic Resonance Imagine). The project has been developed using Python. Thanks to the thesis project I got into Machine Learning and Data science. Hence, I decided to start my Master's degree in Data Science and Engineering. ‍‍ In my master's degree, I learned the basics of math and statistics related to Machine Learning. Moreover, I delved into the programming related to Artificial Intelligence (Tensorflow, Pytorch) and Data Analytics libraries. My thesis was developed in a company (S.T.E.P. S.R.L.). and consisted in using Tensorflow to train and test neural networks to detect Myocardial Infarction using ECG signals. This opportunity to work at S.T.E.P. S.R.L. increased my knowledge of the Data Science world and introduced me to the business and public administration world. 🧑‍ I started working as a Data Scientist in S.T.E.P. S.R.L, a company focused on tax collection, and after one year and 3 months I decided to boost my career moving to Avanade. Thanks to Avanade I'm working with the most recent technologies and techniques that are constantly used for projects for Data Science and AI projects.
