About Alessandro Taylor

Naval architect and marine engineer passionate about the sea and all that closely gravitates around it: sailing, diving, surfing, to name a few. The university of Genova opened the doors to my career in yacht design back in 2013, when I enrolled in the course of Nautical Engineering to merge the passion for the sea with my interest in architecture: the course aimed at combining elements of creative design with the essential engineering knowledge that is required to design a seafaring vessel. A great decision that lead me to exciting years lived between La Spezia, Southampton and Tasmania. Learning the theoretical skills from books, lectures and amazing internship tutors, while on the side fulfilling the desire for hands-on experience by working on charter boats, racing in many regattas and managing a 60ft luxury sailing yacht for two years. In 2020 I landed on a wonderful island in the middle of the Mediterranean called Malta. I initially joined the NAS team to design a hybrid passenger ferry as part of my master's thesis degree; when the project ended, I was very pleased to receive the offer to stay. My role at NAS today mainly focuses on surveying yachts under construction, for Malta Flag and as buyer's technical representative; however, my participation in design projects is also relevant. Our studio is a hub of talented young engineers and designers who work as a team, knowledge and skills are shared to achieve great results and deliver the best service to their clients.
