About Alex A.

A high school English teacher living out her childhood dream by helping students become lifelong learners. I am currently an English teacher at Centennial High School in Frisco and hold a Master of Arts in Teaching from Austin College. Throughout my college career, I spent over 100 hours observing and teaching in the classroom, developing skills in classroom management, communication, creativity, and instructional strategies for ELL students, all of which have helped me grow a strong work ethic and an adaptability to different environments. While pursuing my degree, I gained practical experience that shaped my teaching philosophy. I believe positive teacher-student relationships are key to successful learning because they allow students to feel safe and supported when sharing ideas, and they motivate students to take creative risks. At Centennial, I have enjoyed watching my students grow an excitement for learning and an empathy for others inside and outside the classroom through collaborative activities and relevant lessons. I prioritize adapting strategies that meet the diverse needs of my students to promote English mastery and inspire lifelong learning. Additionally, I believe all students can meet high expectations regardless of a learning difference, language barrier, or any obstacle. I have high expectations for myself and my students and know that, with my guidance, they can achieve high-level work to become future-ready for whatever path they choose beyond high school.
