About Alex Azan

I am a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Division of General Internal Medicine and Clinical Investigation at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine and a T32 postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Population Health at NYU Langone Health. I received my B.S. in biology and studio art from Tufts University and my M.D. from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. I completed my graduate medical training at Montefiore’s Primary Care and Social Internal Medicine residency program. Grounded in the tenants of environmental justice, my research examines the impacts of climate change on health and health equity related to structural and intermediary determinants of health. As a T32 fellow, I am learning and employing advanced geospatial and quasi-experimental methods to evaluate the neighborhood-level health impacts of various land use, climate adaptation policies in New York City. My research is currently supported by NIH, the Health Resources and Services Administration, and the Smart Surfaces Coalition.
