About Alex Baker

As an aspiring secondary biology educator, I bring a solid marine biology foundation and hands-on instructional support experience. Currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) at Clemson University, my primary focus is fostering a profound understanding of biological sciences in students.My role as an Instructional Aide is pivotal in the biology and anatomy & physiology classrooms. I actively support teachers with lesson planning, lab activities, and student engagement, helping students comprehend complex concepts and acquire practical skills in a scientific environment.I am also a participant in the Grow Your Own (GYO) grant program, which supports my commitment to becoming an effective educator who meets the diverse needs of my students. My goal is to inspire a love for science in the next generation and contribute to their academic and personal growth.My passion for the environment is a driving force in my life. I graduated from the College of Charleston with a marine biology degree and an environmental studies minor, and I am deeply committed to understanding and protecting our natural world. This passion fuels my work as an educator, inspiring me to instill a love for science in the next generation.One of my strengths is my adaptability and willingness to learn. I excel in customer service, working with various peers and customers. When faced with new situations, I quickly adapt and am not afraid to roll up my sleeves and do my homework. My experience in the outdoor retail industry was fulfilling, as I was able to help customers find what they needed.
