About Alex Bauer

Starting out as a Cognitive Scientist (B.Sc.) by training (computer science + psychology + neuroscience + linguistics), I transitioned through further studies of "Intelligent Systems"(M.Sc.) and 7+ years of industrial experience into the role of a Data Scientist/Machine Learning Engineer in which I gained substantial experience in building and tuning different kinds of Machine Learning models in the context of model development and experimentation. Over time my specialization expanded towards cloud/data engineering, designing and architecting serverless cloud infrastructure systems to manage Machine Learning Operations (MLOps) at scale. Experience in these complementary areas led me to the role of an AI Solution Architect, where I'm integrating various perspectives while maintaining a birds eye view on available technologies on any side. Core technologies I employ professionally on a daily basis are Python (7+ years), AWS (3+ years), GCP (2+ year), Docker (3+ years), Linux (5+ years), git (5+ years). My strengths are software systems design and prototyping. If possible I follow a rather agile approach of quick proofs-of-concept ensuring the basic feasibility of each component of a system to demonstrate an MVP early on before hardening the solution by fleshing out each part.By my colleagues I’m considered creative, energetic and efficient.
