About Alex Benac

I’m an award-winning strategist and storyteller who weaves insights, content, and creative into campaigns that shape public opinion. As Vice President, Integrated Planning, I connect dots between Burson’s practices, sectors, and specialties in Canada, ensuring that clients of all shapes and sizes receive no-BS comms solutions that are both innovative and strategic. Prior to this role, I was a founding member of Hill & Knowlton’s Innovation and Creativity Hub in Toronto, specializing first in digital and social, then in creative strategy. On that team, I led audience mapping, landscape analysis, strategy development, and campaign execution for some of Canada’s (and the world’s) most influential brands, including IKEA, AWS, Huawei, Coca-Cola, Nespresso, and Scotiabank. I’m also a recovering political and public-sector communicator. I led media relations and issues management in an Ontario cabinet minister’s office and served on the issues and planning team in two provincial election campaigns. I earned my BA in Media Theory and Production from Western University and a Diploma in Broadcasting - Television from Fanshawe College. When I’m not travelling the world, I’m based in Toronto, where I’m usually on the hunt for hidden gems in the food and drink scene.(If you know of any, recommendations are welcome!)
