About Alex Bui

I am currently an Air & Greenhouse Gas Specialist at the Chevron Technical Center, working in the Air & Greenhouse Gas Team. My work focuses on developing, researching, and deploying air quality monitoring and measurement technologies throughout Chevron's business. I provide technical reviews and analysis of Chevron's air and greenhouse gas emissions data, and have led multiple international upstream greenhouse gas data quality efforts. Before joining Chevron, I was a postdoctoral research associate at Rice University. My postdoctoral research focused on linking air quality exposure to educational and birth outcomes in children in North Carolina. I obtained my doctoral degree in environmental engineering from Rice University under Dr. Robert J. Griffin in August 2018. My doctoral thesis used field observations of atmospheric organic particulate matter in remote and urban forest environments. I collected field data using the high-resolution time-of-flight aerosol mass spectrometer (HR-ToF-AMS), which is an instrument that determines the concentration and makeup of particles in the atmosphere. Previously, I worked on indoor air quality experimentation and modeling at the US Army Corps of Engineers.
