Background

About Alex Cherry

I work to build teams that collaboratively engage in infrastructure engineering with a certain esprit de corps. Engaging each contributor and valuing not just their skills and talents, but their unique personality, I create camaraderie that binds loose groups of individuals into cohesive teams that can respond with agility and focus to the rigorous challenges a complex environment presents. Laying the foundation for teamwork takes time, but the increased productivity and employee happiness are well worth the effort.Leveraging twenty-two years of experience from the only boots on the ground to team leader, I can apply the agility of small business to get the job done and keep the lights on without losing the close attention to detail required in large enterprises to prevent minor issues from becoming large ones. I can outfit a small business with a minimal budget as comfortably as I design complex infrastructures for billion-dollar enterprises.I drive my teams towards automation and modernization projects, employing new technologies to shift from manual processes prone to human error towards automated, resilient, and redundant processes.Specialties: Windows Server VMware vSphere (6.0-7.0), Hyper-V, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), Veeam, Powershell, Ubuntu/Debian, Docker, ActiveBatch, Active Directory, Group Policy, IIS, DNS, DHCP, SCOM, SCCM, Microsoft Exchange (on-prem and Office 365), McAfee e-Policy Orchestrator, SIEM, Web Gateway, ShoreTel IPBX and Contact Center, GFI Vipre Enterprise, Dell OpenMANAGE, Palo Alto, Big IP F5, AWS, Terraform, Terragrunt, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), Oracle Linux
