About Alex Cheyney

Taking the first step in a project is what sets me apart from the crowd. I enjoy working with others, collaborating ideas and feeding off of each others energy. I always have an open mind and like to listen to what others have to say, using these leadership skills help me to serve the needs of others more efficiently. From becoming an Eagle Scout to working my way up to leadership staff at YMCA Camp Cheerio, my hardworking and dedicated personality helps me to achieve goals that I strive for. The process of becoming an Eagle Scout has helped to prepare me for any job, I am not one to give up when things get tough and I persevere even through the most trying of times. During my time at YMCA Camp Cheerio I furthered my knowledge on how to manage a staff, I had to be creative to ensure the fun and safety of campers participating in high risk areas, and I learned how to become a better leader. I use a lot of the knowledge and trades that I have learned in school about leadership qualities, and getting to practice those skills was a great opportunity. I always continue to strive to learn more. I am a recent graduate of NC State University I earned a Bachelors of Science in Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management, I am interested in employment in a setting where I am interacting with people and designing programs. I believe that my skills and experiences are the attributes that help to make me a perfect fit for positions involving programming, special events, camps, and recreation opportunities.
