My career has been dedicated to the delivery of equitable life outcomes for children, young people, women, First Nations, multicultural, disabled, LGBTIQ+ and other communities facing inequality or marginalisation. I bring a genuine commitment to diversity and inclusion, grounded in lived and professional experience. I have worked across the corporate, not-for-profit, government and education sectors in New Zealand, Australia, Viet Nam, Singapore, Thailand, Fiji, Pakistan and the USA. Most recently, this includes applying these skills in the health sector through Brisbane South PHN (Primary Health Network), and in the disaster management sector with Queensland's Inspector-General of Emergency Management. In the humanitarian aid and development sector, I have led regional and global-level communications for UNICEF, UN OCHA and large INGOs, including Plan International, Marie Stopes and CARE. As the University of Waikato's Director, Communications and External Relations my role encompassed Communications, Industry Liaison, Alumni, Fundraising, Events and Conferencing functions. Prior to this, I was based in New York, supporting the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoys on El Niño and Climate. I was seconded to this role from UNICEF in Fiji, where I managed the communications for 14 Pacific countries. In Thailand I managed the communications for Plan International's Asia region, supporting 40+ staff in 14 countries in the strategic alignment, expansion and optimisation of their communications and communication for behaviour and social change. In Pakistan I coordinated 20+ staff and other key stakeholders to strengthen UNICEF’s work through strategic behaviour change communication, social mobilisation and advocacy activities.
