About Alex Craft

I have more than ten years of expertise in the healthcare industry from the bedside in long-term care facilities to the Operating Room at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, a Level One Trauma Center. I'm a creative, innovative, detail-oriented, and data-driven problem solver, and I am excited to use my education and industry knowledge as the Lead ST for the Orthopaedics OR Team! Additionally, I serve as an Adjunct Instructor for the Department of Perioperative Education and Research. I have spent the last nine years working in the Operating Room at Vanderbilt University Medical Center as a Surgical Technologist specializing in Orthopedic Surgery. I scrub and assist in Musculoskeletal Oncology, Total Joint/Adult Reconstruction, Trauma, Spine, and Sports Medicine surgeries. I also take an active role in training and precepting new Surgical Technologists and RNs. I also participate in the Perioperative Services Unit Board, where I served as the Chair of Orthopaedics from 2020 to 2021. I currently serve as the President of the Board of Directors for Street Theatre Company: a small, 501c3 nonprofit arts organization in Nashville, TN. In this role, I often get to wear many hats: producer, grant writer, stagehand, and more! I oversee all board operations and play an active role in all board committees: finance, marketing, development, IDEA (inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility), youth engagement, and event and volunteer planning. I am serious and intentional about fostering advancement and respect for inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility efforts. I stand firmly by philosophies of anti-racism and anti-oppression. Additionally, I am passionate about arts advocacy and health policy.
