About Alex Falco

I am a hardworking and motivated chemist dedicated to producing results in my experiments and presenting these findings in peer-reviewed articles. I am confident in my ability to work under time constraints and deliver high-quality results. My experience in the lab has provided me with a broad range of skills necessary for the synthesis and structural characterization of organic molecules, fluorophores, supramolecular metal complexes and lanthanide separations. I earned my Ph.D. in Chemical Sciences in 2024. During my Ph.D. studies, I specialized in the synthesis and characterization of organic ligands and macromolecules for advanced separation processes and bio-imaging applications. I am proficient in adapting and optimizing separative techniques, including solvent extraction, selective precipitation, and cloud point extraction, for selective metal recovery. I have extensive experience in spectroscopic techniques (NMR, UV-vis, FT-IR) and mass spectrometric analysis (HPLS-MS and LC-MS). A skilled collaborator and mentor, with expertise in laboratory management and academic research. Currently, I am working as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Parma (Italy), developing tumor-targeting and therapeutic systems based on SpyTag peptide functionalized with a fluorophore label for interactions with SpyCatcher.
