About Alex Hale

I’m a people-focused operations leader with a strong drive to make a positive impact. Whether tackling food poverty, investigating cultural and economic inequalities in sport, or supporting people with disabilities into meaningful work, I believe in the power of community and continuous improvement. My career has combined hands-on leadership and operational management — from running high-volume hospitality sites to directing social enterprise projects — with a passion for developing people and efficient systems. I’m motivated by roles where I can blend strategy, organisation, and coaching to deliver results that benefit both businesses and communities. I’m currently a Restaurant Manager for Yum, leading a busy, high-performing team and overseeing all aspects of operations, from staff development and customer service to stock control, logistics and financial performance. I take pride in creating an inclusive, motivating workplace where people can grow while ensuring the site meets challenging commercial and compliance targets. Previously, I worked as an Area Manager for a food poverty CIC, where I led multiple venues whose profits were reinvested to provide meals for those in need. I’ve also coached rugby at Newcastle University for the past two years, applying my MSc in Advanced Sport and Exercise Science and my RFU coaching qualifications to develop athletes and promote wellbeing. Over the past few years, I have coached rugby at Newcastle University, which has allowed me to apply my university degree and my passion for sports. I graduated from the University of Sunderland with an MSc (Distinction) in Advanced Sport and Exercise Science. I also hold a First Class Honours BSc in Sports Coaching. I have England RFU level 2 coaching and refereeing certificates and coach rugby in various settings to varying age ranges at a high level. These roles have allowed me to improve my use of critical analysis, communication, and leadership.
