About Alex Hansen

I am a metallurgist with a BS in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines and a co-founder of HYSA Fillers L.L.C. I have worked in production and R&D settings in the steel, Ni-superalloy, and fiberglass industry. In these roles I have worked with operators running equipment to presenting one on one with General Managers and VPs. My technical and communications skills are strong, supported by the ability to quickly grasp new processes and alloy systems. Currently, I am attending the Colorado School of Mines wrapping up my Master's program, working with Ti alloys for additive manufacturing, and beginning my PhD program on dissimilar joining of Ti and stainless utilizing high entropy alloys. My industry experience covers a wide variety of processes, including wire drawing; heat treating (Q&T, annealing, patenting); primary melting (air induction); secondary melting (ESR); failure analysis; along with managing quality adherence for and AS9100 manufacturing environments. Research experience includes alloy development for Co superalloys, Ti additive manufacturing, and HEA (High Entropy Alloys)/MPEA (Multi Principal Element Alloys); welding improvement for Pt alloys, dissimilar joining. Currently, I have returned to school to pursue a PhD in Metallurgy and Material Science. I look forward to making an impact on the metallurgical community with my current and future work.
