About Alex Ho

I’m a current student attending the University of North Texas, pursuing a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Computer Science. I’ve competed in a game jam and a current web management intern at UNT System where I direct and facilitate necessary updates and content migration. I started relatively late in my interest in technology. My freshman year was the first foray into technology as I built my first PC from individual parts. I loved to tinker with things beforehand, but this time, I wasn’t physically limited by what was in reach, instead I could infinitely tinker with the machine right in front of me. Since then, I’ve learned at a rapid pace, gaining experience in languages such as C, C++, Rust, C#, JavaScript, and Python. The first two languages being a result of my education at the University of North Texas, but everything else being a result of the pursuit of my own interests and projects. My skillset has been honed on a need-to- know basis rather than trying to prematurely commit to an unsuited set of skills for a project. My favorite project right now is called png.win. Originally a project for a software engineering class, it turned into a pet project that I concurrently work on with another person. It taught me many things, such as maintaining clean code, setting very clear goals, and being able to adapt if anything goes wrong. In fact, I suddenly gained full-stack development experience working on this project, learning Svelte and SvelteKit. I originally worked on the API and backend, but eventually transitioned into full-stack role, creating the frontend, and merging it with the backend to make a cohesive product. I’ve always looked towards flexibility in life. I believe in flexibility and adaptability being vital in any successful endeavor and fundamental principle in any working system. I, myself, have been a product of these ideals, only transitioning into a tech-oriented interest space into my high school years, where many of my peers have been invested in for much longer. As such, I’ve applied multiple dogmas from my prior interests, such as mathematics, physics, gastronomy, and philosophy into one eclectic dogma that I pursue tech with that has flexibility and adaptability at its core.
