About Alex Kwok

Hello! Welcome to my profile! Keep reading if you want to learn how I went from chemist to educator to now aspiring CPA & Founder of ACG LondonON Expo! Back in 2022, I graduated from Western University with a B.Sc. Honors Specialization in Chemistry, with four years of study and hands-on experience in analytical techniques like HPLC and UV spectrophotometry. My undergraduate thesis focused on designing and synthesizing imaging molecules for cancer research, giving me valuable problem-solving and research skills. I also spent nearly a year as a laboratory technician, gaining practical experience in a fast-paced environment. After completing my degree, I pursued teaching, where I developed skills in lesson planning, classroom management, and communication. I also worked as an online ESL tutor, helping students around the world build their language proficiency and confidence. While I enjoyed aspects of teaching, I realized my strengths align better with structured problem-solving and analytical work—leading me to pivot into accounting. Now, I’m actively building my skills in financial analysis, reporting, and data management. I’m always eager to learn, highly detail-oriented, and thrive in environments where precision and logic drive decision-making. Looking forward to connecting with professionals in the field as I make this transition! Outside of work, I enjoy playing co-operative video games, writing and illustrating light-hearted stories, and networking at conventions. Most recently, I’ve begun organizing a grassroots anime and gaming convention called ACG LondonON Expo, a fan-first, charity-integrated event focused on immersive storytelling, cosplay hospitality, and mental health advocacy. Though still in the planning phase (launching Fall 2026), I’ve already built partnerships with local stylists, artists, and health organizations like FEMAP at London Health Sciences Centre. This initiative allows me to apply real-world accounting concepts like budgeting, asset tracking, and forecasting while strengthening soft skills in community outreach, marketing, and leadership. Starting this project over a year in advance has taught me the value of vision, execution, and adaptability, all of which I bring into any team I join. Feel free to reach out to me if you want to discuss employment, careers, hobbies, or life lessons! Take care!~Alex
