About Alex Mekic

Linux and automation have been in my blood since high school. It all started with a four-month long project of transforming a computer lab to running CentOS Linux via a server-client model, and using old IBM computers if you remember those back in the day. 13 years later with 7 years of work experience along with it, the senior title was earned along with new challenges. As a Senior Systems Engineer at Finastra for the past 3 years, I have onboarded and supported over 10 bank clients using the company's SaaS-orientated payments solution hosted on Azure. One of the greatest challenges to date have been migrating existing and onboarding new clients running on Azure Red Hat OpenShift platform, and opening the world of containerization. Before that I was a Systems Technologist for almost 5 years with Evertz, taking the lead of developing modern tools with Ansible, Bash and Python for automating system and network configurations of over 400 Linux systems for over 20 customer projects, even if it meant also needing a simple DHCP server to make it all happen. From starting off taking the plunge on Linux, Ansible, Python and Bash, evolution has taken its place from starting off with the world of bare metal and virtualization systems, to the cloud with containerization in mind.
