About Alex Messbarger

Alex Messbarger is a psychotherapist (LCSW). She completed graduate school at Columbia University on the clinical track with a focus on mental health. She is also currently enrolled at Columbia University, finishing up a second graduate degree in Neuroscience, with a relentless pursuit of understanding the complexities of the human mind. She believes in healing from the inside out through the transformative power of mind-body integration. She strives to identify all aspects of an individual’s life that impact their well-being, aiming for a comprehensive and dynamic approach to healing.Alex fosters a collaborative and empathetic partnership with clients, recognizing and leveraging their unique strengths to help them navigate challenges and realize their goals. She passionately creates a safe, healing, and non-judgmental space where clients can freely share their stories, gain profound insights into their experiences, and forge a new reality that is both authentic and fulfilling. Alex’s toolkit is further enriched by her rigorous amount of somatic training, holding a certification as a trauma-informed somatic/embodiment coach, as well as her certification in mindfulness-based meditation. Alex has experience in Trauma-Informed Care (specifically incorporating somatic work), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
